  • Aging population and discrimination in the workforce

by tbennier at Friday, 27 August 2010

    With an aging workforce we expect the workforce to retire later;
hence the pension age has been lfted. In view of this reality, how do you
intend to minimise/eliminate discrimination against mature age candidates
applying for jobs? How can you build this factor into the state strategic
plan - given that South Australia is most affected by the "Ageing Workforce"
threat? We need improved legislation and more transparency, placin...

  • Building the Entertainment and Art industries in South Australia

    by Ryan29 at Monday, 2 August 2010

The Digital Art & Game Industries in south australia have massive potential but unfortunately the industries dont have a very strong presence here in SA, in America studios such as Massive Black have been running events centred around digital art from San Francisco to New Zealand and even Europe since 2005 at least, Digital art covers many areas which could be put to use building the local industries, the film industry especially requires kno...

  • Car free CBD

by UrsulaMay at Thursday, 29 July 2010

I’d love to see Adelaide’s city centre become car-free. A city without cars would be healthier, environmentally friendly and an attraction for tourists. Fringe and festival events could be established in renewed public spaces, public artwork could be developed and more green, open spaces could be created. This would build on our growing tram network and encourage a greater focus on public transport to bring people into the city. Obviously we’...

  • Climate change urgent action group

by CommunIT at Tuesday, 17 August 2010

Climate change is the most critical issue facing the planet. All other issues, while important, will ultimately be subject to greater pressure from a changing climate. Join this group to call for action.

  • Creating a vibrant screen industry in South Australia

by Maxcat at Saturday, 31 July 2010

Just how do we create a vibrant screen industry in South Australia? Are the SAFC funded programs enough? What more can the SAFC do with the funds available to them? Many people seem to hit a certain age and then leave filmmaking, having dedicated their lives to this hard-to-crack industry. Are we losing our best people to lack of achievement, and then expecting to find success with the next generation? Then there’s the big gap in our television p...

  • Health Issues

by crichards at Tuesday, 31 August 2010

I have a couple of key issues which I feel essentially need to be addressed in the strategic plan.
    1) Residential facilities. The current way in which clients are assessed and funding is provided is disgustingly poor (ACFI). Current funding is all about how much the client relies on help and how much pain management they require (which can only include massage and TENS etc - temporary pain relieving mechanisms). There is no emphasis on encourag...

  • High Speed Rail for Adelaide and South Australia

High Speed Rail for Adelaide and South Australia

by callas at Thursday, 26 August 2010

The current policy of building on Adelaides' urban fringe must end and be replaced by investment in already existing satellite towns.
It is vital that our semi-regional centres such as Victor Harbour, Mt Barker, Murray Bridge and Pt Wakefield are linked to Adelaide by High Speed Rail services. The reasons why this would be beneficial include but are not limited to
    - Reducing our reliance on cars and oil and therefore reducing our carbon emis...

  • Improving Infrastructure

    by Rubina_Carlson at Wednesday, 28 July 2010

"Infrastructure" is such a broad term - it covers roads, public transport, telecommunication networks, property development, power stations and water management.

Currently, SA is lagging behind in these areas, for example:
    - slow upgrades of major roads
    - late buses, delays on extending existing train lines
    - metropolitan areas without access to ADSL
    - lack of incentive to build UP in inner suburbs, rather than sprawling furt...
